Put your skills, passion and education to work in California's Community Clinics and Health Centers (CCHCs) where your contribution can really make a difference!
Working in Community Clinics and Health Centers offers medical professionals a chance to make a difference in someone's life as well as an opportunity to make a real contribution in their own community. Making a difference by providing patient-focused healthcare to those who would not otherwise have access to care can be a very rewarding experience.
The mission of Community Clinics and Health Centers (CCHCs) promotes improved access to healthcare services in a non-discriminatory manner which is sensitive to the needs of the community and the dignity of the individual served. CCHCs provide high-quality primary care and health-related services to medically underserved areas and communities throughout the state. In some instances, a CCHC may be the only site offering any medical services in a given geographic area.
Serving as a safety net for underserved and uninsured populations, clinics provide a medical home and continuity of care to those who otherwise would have no access to medical services. Furthermore, Community Clinics and Health Centers provide medical care on a sliding fee scale based on the patient's ability to pay.
Each CCHC is unique - a clinic serving a remote rural population may offer basic primary medical care and have only one physician available to serve the surrounding populations, while a clinic located in an urban area serving a large inner city population may have many physicians and offer an array of programs including both dental and mental health care services.
Regardless of size, all CCHCs are innovative and highly effective in providing quality primary health care services to their surrounding underserved populations. From improving quality of care to controlling costs, the CCHC model is on the cutting edge of delivering culturally and linguistically competent health care.
